Edge Dressings

MedCu

MedCu wound dressings are the only FDA and CE cleared antimicrobial wound dressings impregnated with copper oxide particles in the market. These are single use dressings designed to address acute, post surgical and chronic wounds.

Antimicrobial Properties

MedCu dressings leverage 15 years of research and successful commercialization of copper impregnation into various fabrics and polymers. The company’s unique proprietary copper technology is protected by 30 patents worldwide and was implemented by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and tested for head-to-toe garments for NASA.
MedCu dressings are designed for placement directly on the wound surface and are made of an internal absorbent layer and external non-binding layer, both impregnated with copper oxide particles, with or without an adhesive contour. The sustained release of copper ions endows the dressings with potent wide spectrum antimicrobial properties. MedCu dressings are highly effective against a wide spectrum of microorganisms including antibiotic resistant bacteria such as VRE and MRSA.

The Power of Copper

Copper has a broad spectrum of biocidal efficacy against bacteria, viruses and fungi and is an essential mineral for the human body. Copper has been used for health, medical and wellness purposes for thousands of years, dating back to ancient Egyptians, Romans, Indians and Aztecs. Copper is biocompatible and safe.

Areas of Use

MedCu’s wound dressings are easy to apply and remove, and are suitable for a wide variety of wounds including:

  • Diabetic Wounds
  • Leg & Foot Ulcers
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • First and Second-Degree Burns
  • Surgical Wounds
  • Venous and Arterial Ulcers
Benefits
  • Strong protection against a broad spectrum of wound pathogens (including resistant bacteria)
  • Easy adhering and removal
  • Sustainable – can be used for up to 7 days
  • Cutting option for optimal fit
  • No need to prewet
  • Cost effective compared to alternatives on the market

MedCu was founded by veterans in the biomed industry with a specialty in copper wellness bioactivities.

Edge Sorb

Edge Sorb (CMC) Dressing is a sterile, non-woven wound dressing composed of 100% Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) fibers. It is highly absorbent, comfortable for patients, and wet integral. As wound exudate is absorbed, the CMC fibers form a soft gel which assists in keeping a moist environment to support the wound healing process and promote the removal of non-viable tissue from the wound,
without damaging newly formed tissue.

Laboratory testing shows that Edge Sorb performs better than the current UK market-leading CMC dressing in absorption capacity, fluid retention, dry strength, and wet strength.

Features

Edge Sorb is designed to manage moderate to highly exuding chronic and acute wounds, and to control minor bleeding in superficial wounds.

  • Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers
  • Surgical wounds (post operative, wounds left to heal by secondary intent and donor sites)
  • Partial thickness burns
  • Traumatic wounds (abrasions and lacerations)
  • Exudate absorption in oncology wounds (e.g. fungating cutaneous tumours, cutaneous
    metastases and Kaposi’s sarcomas)

Edge Lock

Edge lock wound closure device consists of a pair of polypropylene hasps with two adhesive panels. The adhesive panels are porous nonwovens coated with a pressure-sensitive hypoallergenic adhesive.

It is a novel device for the quick and easy closure of most acute wounds, for example lacerated and surgical wounds. The device is designed to allow for a non-invasive closure of a wound and to encourage a tight closure of the wound for an early and successful healing. The non-invasive technique reduces tissue trauma and improves patient comfort, and possibly causes less scarring after healing.

Features

EdgeLock wound closure device is indicated for the closure of acute wounds such as lacerations and surgical incisions. It may also be used in conjunction with subcutaneous suture operations.

  • Patented technology
  • Non-invasive closure, no sutures, less scar
  • Quick to apply
  • Easy to use

Edge Cel

Edge Cel Dressing is an advanced wound dressing manufactured from sodium alginate extracted from natural seaweeds. When in contact with a wound bed, the calcium in the dressing is exchanged with sodium from the wound fluid, turning the dressing into a gel. This maintains a moist wound healing environment which is good for the recovery of exuding wounds and helps with the debridement of
sloughing wounds.
The gel-forming property of an alginate dressing protects against bacterial invasion, a property which makes alginate an ideal wound dressing for faster tissue regeneration and healing in exuding wounds. The release of calcium ions can also accelerate the blood coagulation process thereby further aiding healing and leading to shorter treatment times.

Features

Edge Cel has the capacity to absorb up to 10-20 times its weight whilst avoiding contamination and maceration of the healthy surrounding skin.
Edge Cel CMC Alginate Wound Dressing is indicated for the management of moderately to highly exuding chronic wounds and acute wounds, and to control minor bleeding in superficial wounds.

  • Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers
  • Venous and arterial ulcers
  • Surgical wounds (post operative, wounds left to heal by secondary intent and donor sites)
  • Traumatic wounds (abrasions and lacerations)

Edge Film

EdgeFilm is a thin, semi permeable self-adhesive dressing indicated for the protection of non-exuding wounds and securement of the dressings for wounds management or for I.V cannula or I.V catheter.

Edge Film consists of a thin film backing with a non-latex, hypoallergenic adhesive. The dressing is transparent, allowing continual site observation, and is breathable, allowing good oxygen and moisture vapour exchange. It is waterproof and impermeable to liquids and bacteria.

Edge Film Dressing is individually packed and terminally sterilised.

Features
  • Easy to apply
  • Maintains a moist wound environment
  • High MVTR (Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate)
  • Provides a bacteria barrier
  • Impermeable to moisture
  • Secure adhesive with non-aggressive removal
