October's Featured Wound

Back in May we supported the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust on the below wound. This wound was a lower venous leg ulceration on a 65 year old male which has persisted for 15 months.
Before Debrichem application. Pain related to wound 7/10. Moderate to high exudate.
Immediately after Debrichem application. Pain related to wound 6/10. Wound has already darkened as the biofilm begins to carbonise.
4 weeks after Debrichem application. Pain related to wound 0/10. Minimal exudate.
10 weeks after Debrichem application. Complete epithelialisation. Completely healed.
As you can see, the patient achieved full epithelialisation of their stubborn venous leg ulcer within 10 weeks. A huge thank you to the team at UHNM Stoke-on-Trent for allowing us to come and support this patient, we look forward to helping more of your patients in the future.

Recruitment for our first UK-based publication is coming to a close

Working alongside the Journal of Wound Care, we have commissioned a case series on the use of Debrichem among UK-based patients which is due to be published in early 2023. We are hoping to recruit a few more patients for this case series so if you have a patient in mind please get in touch with the team so we can come and support you before the deadline on 31 October.

Looking back at September

Wound Expo 2022

We were delighted to sponsor the Biofilm zone at Wound Expo this year in Manchester. It was great to meet so many new faces and engage with people about Debrichem and the benefits it could bring to their patients. Our colleagues from DEBx Medical, Roderick and Jim, travelled from the Netherlands to join us on the stand to share their expertise. We also had Stacey Evans-Charles, TVN Lead from Wokingham Hospital and Priti Bhatt, TVN Lead from Guy's & St Thomas' Trust lecturing on their knowledge of Biofilm and the successes they have witnessed with Debrichem.

Working with Accelerate, St Joseph's Hospice

Last month we began working with Karen Staines and the rest of the team at Accelerate. We were able to support them with three cases on 20 September and whilst initial reports are already positive, we look forward to sharing the full results in the near future!

The team grew

The Edge Medical team grew in September as we added another member to our Wound Care division. Ollie joined us this month and has already been involved with Debrichem applications. He will be responsible for supporting chronic wounds in the Midlands and anywhere else he may be needed so please feel free to introduce yourself at ollie.wildsmith@edgemedical.co.uk.

Preparation for Wounds UK

Finally, we have begun preparations for the Wounds UK Conference happening in Harrogate between 7-9 November. We look forward to catching up with familiar faces, as well as meeting new ones. If you or any members of your team are heading to Wounds UK next month, be sure to head to stand 32 and say hello!
